In a splendid valley, distant as soon as 20 minutes of auto from the
gold Bay Hotel, finds the splendid scenery of the Valley of the
Temples, erect in the V sec. a.C. to testimony of the prosperity of
the city. Set fire by the Cartaginesis in the 406 a.C., you/they are
restored by the Romans (The sec. a.C.) what they respect the
original style dorico.
Fascinating and only it is the Temple of the Concordia, that
in the You sec. you/he/she is turned into the church.
All the buildings are directed toward east, to respect the classical
criterion (both Greek and Roman) that the entry in the cell that
entertained the statue of the divinity was illuminated by the
dawning sun, source and principle of life. The temples are besides
in style dorico and esastili (that is with six columns on the
frontal side), except that of Zeus Olimpio that he/she introduced
seven semicolonnes boxed in a wall that he/she closed the whole
building. Built in calcareous tufo, the temples offer a particularly
suggestive sight to the dawn and above all to the sunset, when they
assume a warm gilded coloration. |

With a surface of
over 3500 square meters, the Villa was the residence of hunting
of Max Erculeo, colleague of Diocleziano in the management of
the Roman empire.
It represents an extraordinary testimony of the life in Roman
epoch today thanks to his floors mosaicati, famous all over the
world.
The realization of such mosaics is attributed to African
teachers today, as inventors of this art that spread in the
countries with which you/they came into contact. The importance
of the Villa to world character is due to the impeccable state
of maintenance of the mosaics, retained besides the widest and
fascinating ever realized in Roman epoch.
