The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento

In a splendid valley, distant as soon as 20 minutes of auto from the gold Bay Hotel, finds the splendid scenery of the Valley of the Temples, erect in the V sec. a.C. to testimony of the prosperity of the city. Set fire by the Cartaginesis in the 406 a.C., you/they are restored by the Romans (The sec. a.C.) what they respect the original style dorico.

Fascinating and only it is the Temple of the Concordia, that in the You sec. you/he/she is turned into the church.
All the buildings are directed toward east, to respect the classical criterion (both Greek and Roman) that the entry in the cell that entertained the statue of the divinity was illuminated by the dawning sun, source and principle of life. The temples are besides in style dorico and esastili (that is with six columns on the frontal side), except that of Zeus Olimpio that he/she introduced seven semicolonnes boxed in a wall that he/she closed the whole building. Built in calcareous tufo, the temples offer a particularly suggestive sight to the dawn and above all to the sunset, when they assume a warm gilded coloration.
